Upgrade dim or aging headlight bulbs with H4 LED options designed for drivers who want clearer nighttime visibility and a choice of output levels. HawkGlow offers H4 headlight bulbs across multiple series, including options also labeled 9003 and HB2.
Before choosing a bulb, use the vehicle finder to confirm your make, model, year, and headlight position. Fitment can vary even when the bulb size looks correct.
Find the Right H4 Headlight Bulb for Your Vehicle
H4, 9003, and HB2 are commonly grouped within the same dual-beam bulb family, but that does not mean every vehicle uses this size.
Check your vehicle selector, owner's manual, or the marking on your original bulb before ordering. If your vehicle requires a different bulb size, compare options such as 9005/HB3 headlight bulbs, H7 headlight bulbs, H11 headlight bulbs, or 9006/HB4 headlight bulbs instead.
Also confirm there is enough room behind the headlight housing for the bulb body, cooling system, wiring, and dust cap.
Choose an H4 Bulb for the Way You Drive
Not every driver needs the highest rated power. Start with what you want to improve.
For an everyday headlight upgrade: compare HawkGlow's 80W H4 options such as C7F and T6F.
For higher rated output: P2, S550, and RD09 H4 products are currently listed at 130W.
For drivers comparing the highest rated power among the featured H4 series: V7 is currently listed at 150W.
Power is only one part of the decision. Compare bulb design, available installation space, cooling, electrical compatibility, beam performance, and current product specifications before buying.
Brightness Is Only Useful When the Beam Works
A brighter bulb should help put usable light on the road—not simply create more glare.
Correct bulb seating and headlight aim are especially important with H4 bulbs because the application may handle both low and high beams. After installation, check the beam pattern and make sure the bulb is properly seated before driving.
If you are comparing white or blue-white bulbs, consider road visibility and beam quality rather than choosing by color alone.
Check Electrical and Installation Compatibility
Some vehicles monitor headlight power consumption, so changing from a halogen bulb to LED may cause flickering, dashboard warnings, or other electrical issues.
Selected HawkGlow products are listed as CANbus-ready, but compatibility cannot be guaranteed for every vehicle. Some applications may still require an additional decoder or anti-flicker component.
Also check rear housing clearance. A bulb may match the H4 socket while the cooling fan, heat sink, driver, or wiring still needs additional space.
If the problem involves the complete lamp housing rather than only the bulb, you can also browse HawkGlow headlight assemblies.
H4 Headlight Bulb FAQs
Are H4 and 9003 headlight bulbs the same?
H4, 9003, and HB2 are commonly used for the same dual-beam bulb fitment family. However, vehicle applications can vary, so confirm your year, make, model, headlight position, and original bulb before purchasing.
What does H4 mean on a headlight bulb?
H4 identifies a specific headlight bulb fitment commonly used for combined low- and high-beam applications. It describes the bulb format rather than its brightness or performance level.
Can I replace my H4 with an LED?
You may be able to install an H4 LED replacement when the bulb size, housing space, electrical system, and headlight configuration are compatible. A matching H4 base alone does not guarantee correct beam performance, error-free operation, or legal road use.
Are H4 bulbs legal?
The H4 bulb format itself does not determine legality. Road-use requirements depend on the complete headlight system, replacement light source, and applicable regulations.
