Why Upgrade from HID to LED?

Traditional D1S, D3S HID bulbs, and D8S HID bulbs lose brightness, run hotter, and last only a few thousand hours, often leading to repeated D3S headlight bulb replacements.

By switching to D1S, D3S, and D8S LED headlight bulbs, drivers gain brighter 6000K visibility, six times longer lifespan, lower power use, and easier D3S HID bulb replacement without ballasts. Compact design and cooler operation make LED the smarter upgrade over D1S HID or halogen options.

Much Brighter than Halogen and HID

The Hawkglow D1S, D3S, and D8S LED headlight bulbs are up to 3× brighter than halogen and deliver a clear 6000K white beam. Each pair provides 8600LM output, giving safer visibility at night and outperforming a standard D3S HID bulb. This makes them an ideal choice for drivers needing a reliable D3S headlight bulb replacement or upgrading from D1S HID systems.

360° Beam Pattern – Clearer D1S/D3S/D8S Headlight Bulb Replacement

The advanced refraction focus design ensures full front coverage with no dark spots or glare. These D3s bulbs and D8s HID bulb replacements deliver a crisp cutoff line that improves visibility while keeping oncoming drivers safe.

Extended 30,000-Hour Lifespan

With an external driver separating the power supply from the lamp body, these D1S/D3S/D8S HID bulb replacements reduce heat, minimize light decay, and achieve over 30,000 hours of use. Far longer than halogen or HID, they are a durable upgrade for D1S LED headlight bulb users. (Note: The external driver is not a decoder.)

Easy Plug-and-Play Installation

Designed with a 1:1 OEM size, these D3S bulbs fit directly into the headlight housing with no modification required. Installation takes just 10 minutes, making it one of the simplest D3s headlight bulb replacement solutions for HID vehicles.

Note: We are changing our packaging; you may receive one of the two boxes at random.

98% vehicle adaptability

Equipped with smart CSP LED chips, the Hawkglow D1S / D3S / D8S LED bulbs are compatible with 98% of vehicle systems. For some sensitive models, a CANbus decoder may be needed. Whether you’re replacing D3S HID bulbs or upgrading from D8S, these LEDs ensure broad adaptability.

How to Choose the Right D1S, D3S, or D8S HID Bulb Replacement

Selecting the correct bulb size is essential for a safe and proper upgrade. Whether replacing a D3S HID bulb, a D1S HID, or a D8S hid bulb, follow these steps:

  1. Check your owner’s manual – It usually lists the correct headlight bulb type.

  2. Inspect the current bulb – Remove your original bulb and look for markings such as D1S, D3S, or D8S.

  3. Use online fitment tools – Search your vehicle year and model with “d3s hid bulb replacement” or “d8s hid bulb” to confirm compatibility.

  4. Double-check before ordering – On the product page, select your specific vehicle model to ensure the right fit.

⚠️ Important Notes:

  • If upgrading from halogen, make sure the headlamp has a lens. Installing LED without a lens may cause beam scatter.

  • Our D1S, D3S, and D8S LED headlight bulbs are replacements for HID systems only and are not compatible with factory halogen or OEM LED headlights.

  • Always check local regulations to confirm LED headlights are street legal in your area.

What if I install these LED bulbs and they flicker or report errors?

Since LED conversion kits use less power than halogen or HID bulbs, if your vehicle is equipped with a CANbus system, there may be a problem because it may think your lights are malfunctioning and cause them not to work properly. At this point, you can solve the problem by adding a plug and play bulb decoder. (few extremely sensitive vehicles can have this problem)

Can I replace an bulb with an LED?

All vehicles fitted with halogen headlight bulbs from the factory are suitable for LED conversion. The main advantage is a massive increase in road illumination and therefore improved safety when driving at night.

Which direction do LED bulbs go?

When you replace a halogen bulb with an LED bulb, it should work the same way as a halogen bulb. Place the LED bulb with the center tab facing up and the LED chip pointing horizontally left and right. If the bulb is installed tilted or upside down, you will get a strange and really bad beam pattern.

What is an LED?

An LED, or Light Emitting Diode, is a source of light used in various applications. When a suitable voltage is applied to its leads, it emits light through a process called "electroluminescence," which we integrate into our products.

How do I determine the brightness of LED bulbs?

In the automotive industry, LED bulb brightness is often measured in lumens (luminous flux), which represents the amount of visible light to the human eye. Check the lumen rating to assess the total visible light output of the LED lamp.

What is color temperature, and how do I match headlamps with fog lights?

Color temperature refers to the light's color, measured in kelvins (K). It's essential to consider color temperature when purchasing LED lamps to match them with your existing lights for a consistent look.

Which bulb size should I use?

Refer to your vehicle's owner's manual or the original bulb for the correct bulb size. Comparing the factory bulb to our product is a reliable method.

What color LED bulb should I use?

Choose LED bulb colors that comply with road safety laws. Refer to the part number on the bulb, your vehicle's manual, or consider the lens color for compatibility.

I have error-free bulbs, but they still throw an error, why?

Follow troubleshooting steps, including checking bulb polarity and performing specific vehicle procedures to clear error messages. If issues persist, contact us with contact@hawkglow.com for alternative solutions.
